Alfredo Segura, Jr., Chief Executive Officer

Alfredo Segura Jr. is the Chief Executive Officer and Superintendent of New Frontiers Public Schools, one of the only Generation 2 charter schools remaining in Texas. Under his leadership, the district provides early college opportunities for San Antonio students and families through the Frank L. Madla Early College High School. Madla ECHS has earned an “A” rated destination from TEA since inception, has been recognized by US News and World Report as one of the top public high schools in San Antonio, and has received the highest progressive rate of any college partner with Palo Alto College.

The eldest son of migrant workers who spoke primarily Spanish, Segura recognizes the importance of education as the foundation for achieving the American dream. He incorporates this experience in his leadership and brings a first-generation perspective to policy and legislative discussions across Texas. Segura established partnerships with Alamo College District and PreK4SA and secured approval from TEA to open four high schools with the intent to designate them as Early College High Schools. Most recent, Segura secured bond financing in the amount of $25M. This money will be used to fund a district expansion project for an intermediate school which will serve as a feeder program to the district’s early college high schools.

Prior to 2005, Segura worked for Charter Schools USA as their Director of Compliance and Operations for Texas where he maintained compliance, managed the facilities, and provided operational guidance for seven charter schools throughout Texas. He was also a Behavior Intervention Specialist with Advantage Schools. He has held Board of Director positions with the Texas Public Charter Schools Association and the Region 20 Education Service Center. He is a Certified Provider of the Texas Education Agency for board and administrator training and a member of both the Greater San Antonio and Southside San Antonio Hispanic Chambers of Commerce.
