Pre-K 4 SA forms partnership with New Frontiers Public Schools

New Frontiers is first public charter to join Pre-K 4 SA as a district partner

SAN ANTONIO — Pre-K 4 SA and New Frontiers Public Schools have joined forces to create the first and only public charter school partnership to date offering high-quality prekindergarten education to the families and students of South San Antonio.

New Frontiers Public Schools is a tuition-free, local public charter school district located on the South Side of San Antonio at 4018 South Presa Street. New Frontiers Public Schools, in its 20th year of operation, has a founding vision of shaping students into future leaders of the community. New Frontiers currently serves children in grades kindergarten through high school. This partnership allows the children of New Frontiers families to get started on their education a year earlier.

All New Frontiers prekindergarten students would attend the Pre-K 4 SA South Education Center, which is located a short distance from the New Frontiers campus. The South Education Center currently has openings, and this partnership makes those spaces available to New Frontiers families with eligible four-year-olds.

Pre-K 4 SA provides high-quality curriculum and full-day programming to 4-year-olds living in San Antonio and delivers best-in-class professional development to early childhood educators resulting in long-term dividends for students, educators and the community.

“Pre-K 4 SA was created to change the educational and workforce trajectory of San Antonio within one generation by working to ensure that every 4-year-old has access to high-quality pre-kindergarten education,” Pre-K 4 SA CEO Sarah Baray said. “We see this partnership as an excellent opportunity to increase options in early childhood education for families in the South Side community who have chosen New Frontiers. We want New Frontiers families to know they have access to high-quality prekindergarten through Pre-K 4 SA.”

Leaders and board members from both Pre-K 4 SA and New Frontiers Public Schools saw alignment in mission and vision, and concluded a partnership would be positive and mutually beneficial for the young learners and development of San Antonio.

“New Frontiers Public Schools was formed to support our local community that wanted a better approach to meet the educational needs of its families,” New Frontiers Public Schools CEO Alfredo Segura Jr. said. “We offer a true pathway to and through college for our students, integrating high rigor,

innovative and individualized strategies to meet the needs of all of our learners. We welcome this partnership as we value early childhood education and understand its impact on high school graduation and achievement in higher education.”

Both Pre-K 4 SA and New Frontiers Public Schools have appointed boards but are subject to regulation under the Texas Education and Government Codes, similar to an elected ISD board. The partnership was approved at the June Pre-K 4 SA board meeting. New Frontiers Public Schools students are eligible to enroll for the 2018-19 school year. Interested families can learn more

about enrolling their student by visiting each organization’s website or by attending the next New Frontiers Public Schools Pre-K 4 SA information sessions at noon and 4 p.m. on July 25 at 4018 S. Presa, San Antonio.
